Day to day experiences and the increasingly charged socio-political climate, all act as influences that inspire the subject matter of which I use. The internal thoughts of place and being, themes of classical mythology, folklore, heroism, escapism, fantasy and the desire to be in nature are a direct response. I use landscapes to express these aspects – my works involve an illusion through a fake setting or imitation of the artificial in hopes of creating this other place of existence, diverging between the contrast of the organic elements of the material vs. the architectural elements. The psychological aspects questions, quirkiness and humor yet somehow envelopes the sad and lonely inner look of loss, heartache, and belief systems, melding the physical with the psychological.
